Offered for sale is a beautiful matched pair of late 19th century Dresden porcelain covered ginger jars. The jars are decorated in panels of romantic pastoral hand painted scenes on a white ground alternating with royal blue panels of floral bouquets. The panels are framed in gilt scrollwork.
The jars have matching lids and are both marked spuriously with Augustus Rex, however, it is our opinion that the jars were decorated by the famous Dresden decorating studio of Helena Wolfsohn.
The jars are in excellent condition and the quality matches the superbly decorated pieces that were a trademark of this exclusive studio.
