Pair of 19th C. Volkstedt Porcelain Cherub Encrusted Ewers
Offered for sale is a magnificent pair of 1884 – 1894 Volkstedt Porcelain ewers heavily encrusted with cherubs, birds, and grapes. The ewers are a complementary pair and are enameled in soft greens on a creamy background embellished with floral sprigs. They are highlighted in gilt.
The Volkstedt Porcelain Factory was located in Thuringia, Germany and was in partnership with Triebner and Eckert from 1877 – 1894. They produced high quality porcelain figurines, chinaware, tableware, tea sets, and other decorative porcelain.
The ewers are in excellent condition with small minute chips to a few flower petals and leaves, and some older restoration to a cherub arm. The repairs are difficult to notice with so much going on. They would be exceptional for display on shelves, wall brackets, or a mantle.
Size: 14” Height by 9” Width.
