Pair of late 19th C. Fischer & Mieg Pirkenhammer Imari Pattern Plates
Presented for sale is a lovely pair of late 19th century Bohemian porcelain plates made by Fischer & Mieg, Pirkenhammer Manufactory, in the "Imari" style. The plates are painted in deep underglaze cobalt blues and overglaze iron red enamels, embellished with heavy gilt.
The Bohemian porcelain factory of Fischer & Mieg was founded in 1803 in Pirkenhammer, Bohemia, Austria by Johann Gottlob List and Friedrich Hocke. The company, known as Freidrich Hoche (or Hocke) was eventually sold to Fischer & Mieg in 1859. It enjoyed a reputation as one of the best porcelain manufacturers in Bohemia. Its products were prized for their translucent porcelain body, high quality glazes, and artistic designs.
The plates are in excellent condition with minor enamel and gilt wear consistent with age and use.
