Offered for sale is a vintage reproduction of Frederic Remington’s bronze “The Cheyenne”. The Cheyenne is Remington’s most popular Native American sculpture and depicts a galloping horse with its rider. The piece is pure motion as all four of the horse’s hooves are airborne, and the piece is supported solely by the Indian’s buffalo hide. Remington termed this “burning the air”.
The piece is finely cast with the lost wax method, with very nice detail, something more recent pieces seem to be lacking. It is in excellent condition and comes from an Estate where it had remained since early 1980. It is mounted on a marble base.
Size: 23” Length by 20” Height by 7” Depth.
