Offered for sale is a delightful French Art Deco clock made by Hour Lavigne under the "JUST" name with a Zodiac designed bronze dial. The clock is encased in a glass frame mounted on a stepped plinth base with a silver backed panel.
The firm of Hour Lavigne transformed the concept of what a clock should look like after World War I, exchanging the old heavy style for the sleekness of Art Deco. These clocks were presented at the 1925 Exposition and literally wiped out the competition. Because of this transition, the style of clockmaking was altered for generations. The clocks were well-made and expensive to produce, so they were usually made exclusively for high-end retailers such as Tiffany & Co.
The clock winds, is still working and keeping time. The bronze is slightly darkened with age as is the back panel, but it is undoubtedly a spectacular little time piece.
Size: 5” Height by 5 7/8” Width by 2” Depth.
