Circa mid-century, this saucier produced by Los Castillo is a work of art. Pourable art. This piece is worthy of a center spot for the well-dressed table.
Generally Los Castillo serving pieces are silver-plated, or plateado. Not this piece. It's solid sterling silver, and it's large and gorgeous. Sits upon four balled feet, with a sleek modernist design. Very artsy.
The top edge is rolled, protecting its contents from dripping from the lip when poured. The outside has a mirror-like finish. The inside bowl more matte. This is a hand-wrought piece, and it is truly stunning.
Heavy and substantial, with a weight of 449.50 grams, or 14.45 troy ounces.
Measures just over 8" in length, 4 3/8" wide, 5" tall.
Signed and hallmarked "Los Castillo Taxco 925 Hecho en Mexico", with a very worn eagle assay.
In fine vintage condition. There are some nicks along an edge, which could likely be buffed out if desired.
