A mint condition Westmoreland Purple 'Marble' or 'slag' Glass footed vase in the 'Swirl and Ball' pattern. Marked "WG" to the base.
Marble is the name Westmoreland used for their 'slag' or swirl glass colors. This vase was introduced in both Purple and Green Marble colors in 1972 as 'incidental' with some limited edition production of special carnival versions of the vase for Levay.
The purple marble effects are in balance with neither color dominating and the marbling is not overly uniform, holding interest in the pattern. Looking into the vase you can see how 4 pieces of glass canes were melted together and spun into the mold to create this effect, which is a Westmoreland Glass manufacturing signature making each handworked marbled piece unique in its patterns. The glass is opaque and not translucent.
There is no damage or wear at all and and scarce if any wear to the base. Minty and fresh from our collections.
