This antique Japanese menuki off of a Samurai sword has been made into a brooch or pin. It was made into a pin probably 100 years ago, early 20th century. They did a great job backing it in sterling silver with a locking pin protector. The silver is skillfully cut out to the shape of the menuki. No maker's marks. It is in fine condition, the menuki not being polished. The menuki front is gold gilt on bronze or copper. Hard to tell what the subject is. Looks like tied up bundles or sacks. Length 1 and 3/8 inches, or 3.6 cm. If you collect Japanese mixed metal work, why not wear a piece made into jewelry?
