The most massive, magnum glass paperweight you will ever see! Italian, Murano in origin. Mid 20th century. This huge paperweight measures 6.6 inches across, and 4 inches in height. An incredible feat for any glass blower to achieve , weighing almost 6 pounds. A challenge for any paperweight maker, this huge piece has layers upon layers of internal decorations, including cut millefiori canes, filigree, ribbons, tubes, aventurine bits, spangled glass with silver foil inclusions, etc. The internal core is dark green glass with the silver foil or mica inclusions. Successive layers are clear glass with all of the filigree, twists and ribbons. The canes are scattered throughout, but they expand when approaching the surface. All of the familiar Italian glass colors of early to mid 20th century are in this piece. I do not know the maker, but certainly one of the more skilled glass houses. Bottom is polished flat. There are a few small scratches on the underside which may be in the making, tool marks, since they are near the polished bottom. One scratch on the side, about 1.5 inches long. Toward the bottom so not noticeable when on display. See last photo. Everything else looks good. Whether you collect vintage Murano glass or paperweights, this is a great addition to your collection. Makes a great statement as a centerpiece.

This will be double boxed for safe mailing.
