Beautiful small dinner bell made of 935 (higher than the sterling standard) silver. This piece has guilloche enamel covering the bell, in a Dutch type scene with windmills, houses, and sailboats in the canal or river. The enamel is blue and white, the coloring similar to Delft porcelain. Marked 935 for the silver standard and 83 in a circle. This bell has a handle with embossed scroll design. Small size, height 2.5 inches. Diameter of bell 1.5 inches. Condition is good. No dents, because the silver is thick. There is only one small issue : see last photo. A spot of enamel missing along the upper rim. A bit over 1/4 inch long. It is minor and does not detract from the beauty of this piece. I do not know the country of origin according to the silver standard. Sometimes Germany and Switzerland used 935 when applying enamel. Also Scandinavian countries . It seems that fired enamel works better on 935 than 925. All we know is that the enamel is of good quality and the bell is pretty. Clapper is original. A nice looking vintage bell for your collection.
