Set of 4 antique solid silver knife rests, with numerous European hallmarks on each one. There is a bat shaped lozenge with 800 (silver standard of many European countries). Also other hallmarks. Hard to see in the photos since they are really tiny. These are really attractive Victorian ornate design. One of the 4 has a hand engraved monogram, EV or VE. It's so beautifully engraved it looks like part of the decoration. These are in good condition, just minimal usage. I did not polish, but you can polish to your liking. They are European in origin, and late 19th century. In the 19th century, a well appointed formal table setting included knife rests to keep the linens clean. They can be used for chop sticks as well as knives. Height 1.6 inches ( 4.3 cm.). Length 3.5 inches ( 8.7 cm. ).
If you collect antique knife rests, these would be a beautiful addition to the collection. Sold as set of 4.
