Lotus Ware fine porcelain tea set, made by Knowles, Taylor and Knowles in East Liverpool, Ohio. The company only produced this labor intensive ware from 1893 to 1896. It is scarce to find pieces with the hand applied fishnet decoration. This fishnet was applied using the squeeze bag technique. This set includes teapot, creamer, sugar. Size is small, like 2 cups. Floral decoration is transfer, with hand painted colors applied. Interesting knotted handle design. Condition: everything is perfect except teapot lid. The lid has large chip and old staple repair. This is an antique professional repair that put the two pieces back together strongly. When on display you don't notice this , as the staples don't come through. All other items are excellent condition. The porcelain is fine white bone china of excellent quality. Tiny bit of natural wear to the gold trim, but not much wear. Teapot, height 4.25 inches, length 7 inches. Covered sugar height 4 inches, length 5.25 . Each piece is marked on the base with K, T, K, crown mark, Lotus Ware. This type of American Belleek is very scarce since it was produced for only a short time. Creamer, covered sugar, and teapot in good condition. Teapot lid repaired. If you collect American belleek, this is really pretty set to own.
