Antique coin silver made by William Faber and Sons of Philadelphia, Pa. This large size punch ladle is beautifully hand made, with bright cut engraving on the handle, twisted shank, and scallop shaped bowl with gilding. There is also engraving on the top of the bowl. Length is 12.75 inches. Bowl is 4.25 inches across, and 1.5 inches deep. This piece is skillfully made, in a very elegant and balanced shape that feels comfortable to use. Nice heft to the silver, at 5.5 ounces or 154 grams on my postal scale. Condition is great. No issues. Just normal wear to the back of the bowl where it sits. Some of the gilding is worn on the back of the bowl. Gilding is good on the front of the bowl. No scratches, no monogram, no dents. A great example of American coin silver (900 silver). This silversmith was active in Philadelphia from 1828 to 1887. This style is toward the middle of those years. It is stamped with the maker and also "Coin". If you collect antique Philadelphia silver, this is a beautiful and functional piece for your collection.
