Cup Plate in the deepest blue transfer ware, made c. 1820's to 1830's. I assume it is a cup plate, the size is a bit over 4 and 1/4 inches. I see that some cup plates are as small as 3.5 inches. This one has an image of two men in the foreground, carrying something, either guns or fishing poles, hard to see because of the nature of the flow blue. The scenery in the background includes a farm house in a landscape. On the right is a sailboat in a lake. The blue is so dark it is hard to make out the border pattern, but there are scrolls on the outer border. This plate is in excellent condition, especially for it's age. No chips, no hairlines, no repairs. No scratching on the surface. Just some natural wear on the base rim. A little discoloration on the back just from age. Any grit on the front image is in the making. No issues at all with this plate. The color is the deepest dark cobalt blue. The Clews impressed crown mark is clear. If anyone can help me out with the name of the scene, it would be appreciated. A nice early little plate for your historical blue collection.
