Japanese cloisonne' round box for cosmetics, or makeup. This beautiful box dates from 1890's. Size is 3 inches diameter, 1.5 inches in height. A box of this size and shape is referred to as a Kogo. The workmanship is really skilled. The wires are gilt. Many of the enamel colors are speckled. ( Looks like pesto and bloodstone). Even the red is speckled with white. There is some goldstone copper flecks within the green reserve that has the flowers. Nice precise wire work. Counter enameled with green on the inside for strength. Decorated top and bottom. Condition perfect. No chips, no cracks, no repairs, no scratches. You will see some pitting which is entirely in the making, and is typical of cloisonne from the 19th century. No issues at all. A really pretty, small piece of antique cloisonne for your collection. A collection of kogos would be fun, because you can find them in Satsuma and other ceramics , they are small and easy to display.
