Huge serving spoon by Reed and Barton, in the gorgeous Les Six Fleurs pattern. This sterling silver serving spoon is very large and heavy. Length 9.5 inches. Bowl is 3.5 by 2.75 inches. The bowl is slightly gilt, but not overly bright. The bowl is subtly shell shaped. Hefty weight to the spoon: 4.6 oz. or 130 grams on my postal scale. Marked on the back with the turn of the century Reed and Barton trade mark, Sterling, Pat. Applied For. This pattern was made in 1901. It is one of Reed and Barton's most beautiful, ornate, patterns from turn of the century. Art nouveau inspired naturalistic flowers. The flowers are very 3 dimensional and cover the entire handle. Pattern is also on the back. This piece is monogrammed in the back, so its not noticed. This pattern is available in a wide range of flatware, as well as bowls and other holloware. Condition of this spoon is good. It has been used but well cared for. It's got those fine lines from normal usage, but no issues at all. The gilding has mellowed which I think looks good on antique sterling silver. This spoon is large and has a variety of uses. Dress up your dinner party!
