This necklace is a beautiful example of sponge coral at it's best; in it's natural state and left untreated without dyes or fillers. I cannot say for sure how old it is but I would think most likely 30's/40's.
It measures a lengthy 31 inches and closes with a silver hook. The beads are strung on heavy wire. The larger of the angel skin beads (2) measures approx. 1.5cm. The other 2 are about half that size. These beads are a lovely shade of pink and contain some naturally occurring polyps. There were a couple hairline fissures which I had professionally restored to ensure many more years of wearing pleasure.
The sponge coral, as stated above, is in it's natural state. I see no issues with the beads and each measures approx. 1.5cm around. These beads could use a gentle cleaning but I chose to leave that to the new owner.
Lastly, interspersed throughout the piece there are white shell chips that serve as spacers. An ingenious and well thought-out idea!
I am asking what I feel is a modest price for the item. All questions are welcome!
