This is a Chinese embroidered linen handkerchief that is definitely the most intricately worked hankie that I’ve ever seen. As to age, it is difficult to date, perhaps not antique but close to being so - I would think that this dates at least to the 1930s, but may be much earlier as I can’t imagine work like this having been made anytime post-WWII. The handkerchief is presently framed under glass, but could be taken out for use, although this is really too good to be used. Among other motifs, the handkerchief is embroidered with two dragons at each corner. The handkerchief measures 11 1/2” by 11 5/8” while the frame measures 14 3/8” square. Both the hankie and frame are in excellent condition.
This is a piece of textile art - absolutely gorgeous embroidery that would have taken many, many hours of painstaking work to complete!
