This is a wonderful vintage doll made by German celluloid doll manufacturer Rheinische Gummi und Celluloidwaren fabrik (Rhenish Rubber and Celluloid Works), also known as Schildkrötwerke (Turtle Works) due to their use of a turtle as an identifying mark. Schildkrot was known for manufacturing very nice quality dolls. This doll has painted features and has moveable arms and legs. I believe that she is made of Tortulon, which is a thicker, more durable celluloid type plastic. The doll is dressed in its original tradition German clothing which is very detailed - note the quality of the materials by viewing the photos. It measures 10” in height. The doll is in beautiful condition - the only defect that I can find is a bit of light spotting on the lace apron and on her socks as well, very minor (see last close-up photo of apron). The hair is in pristine condition and the doll retains its original turtle logo hang tag. Due to the use of synthetic hair rather than molded hair and the use of Tortulon, which was a thicker, more durable celluloid, I believe that this doll dates to the 1950s. This is a wonderful vintage Schildkrot - very pretty display doll!
