This is an 80s wool coat made by Laurel. The coat is made in an 80s oversized style with a four button double breasted closure. The coat can be worn open or closed in a couple of different ways with either the opening turned out to form lapels or turned in without lapels - please note my photos. It has large pads in the dropped shoulders and the sleeves are cut full, but taper from the body to the cuff. There is a large patch pocket at either side, each pocket turned at the top to a diagonal angle. The coat is fully lined in black acetate. The wool is woven to form contrasting squares in solid colours and striped combinations of those colours. There is decorative white stitching delineating the squares.
Label: “Laurel”. Laurel is a mid-priced label started by Escada of Germany in 1980. A second label reads Made in W. Germany
Color: Greyish brown and black with white flecking
Material: New Wool in a twill weave
Sizing: Size 40 is indicated, which, depending on if this is a German sizing, would be equivalent to a US size 8 - please rely on the following measurements for fit, noting that fit should not be snug due to the oversized style:
Shoulders: 25” across the shoulder seams, but note that because of the dropped shoulder, the seam falls on the upper arm
Sleeves: 20” from the shoulder seam
Sleeve inseam: 17”
Bust: 56” around
Waist: 52” around
Length: 49” long, measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odors - a bit of soiling to the label, but the coat appears to be clean and ready to use.
This is a wonderfully styled coat.....very nice quality!
