This is a wonderful late or post Edwardian era ladies walking suit jacket. The jacket has an elongated silhouette that accents the figure. It is made with squared lapels and wrist length split cuff sleeves. It closes with a single button and two ties, each decorated with a matching button. There is a large patch pocket at either front side bottom. There are decorative seams at the upper back and emanating out from the pockets. The jacket was once lined but the lining was removed except for the upper back - note that the edge is unfinished and interior seams are exposed.
Color: Dark navy blue
Material: Wool twill
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although it should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, either comparing them to another jacket that you may own or your body measurements, allowing at least 1” less for fit (3”-4” at the chest):
Shoulders: 15 1/2” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 22” long
Sleeve Inseam: 16” long
Bust: 40” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 40” around, uncinched by belt, meant to be cinched
Overall length: 30" measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with the exception of the missing lining. In addition, the buttons are missing from the cuffs and someone stitched the left cuff only rather than affixing a button, but this can be reversed. I noticed one tiny fray on the collar (see last close-up photo). Also, because the lining was removed, the collar could use a stitching at the back so as to fold properly. Otherwise, this jacket presents itself very well. Replacing the lining is optional, but by adding a button at either cuff and stitching the back collar, this will be ready to wear.
This walking suit jacket features wonderful Edwardian era style. Hard to find, sure to be noticed!
