This is a 1930s era day dress made in an off-white linen with zipper closures. The dress was sold at B. Altman & Co. of Paris and New York - B. Altman was a high-end fashion and fabrics department store founded in 1865 and located on Fifth Avenue in New York from 1906 until its closure in 1989. The dress is made in a simple style, understated, but with a design influence dictated by the art deco movement of the era. It has a V shaped collarless neckline, adjustable with the brass zipper down the centre bodice. It has cap sleeves, slanted zippered pockets at either front side under the defined waistline, a kick pleat at the centre bottom front and back and is made in a below the knee length. It has a four snap closure at the left side, along with a hook and eye at the left waist. There are loops for a belt, but no belt is provided - personally, I think that a belt might interfere with the line of the dress. The dress is unlined.
