This is a lovely piece of lace that I think may originally have been meant for use as a furniture runner, but works beautifully as a stole shawl - perhaps I’m wrong and it really was meant for use as a shawl, but no matter what, this is a very attractive piece of lace! It is made with a “fisherman’s net” or “filet” base that is then finished with floral and other motifs - two of the flowers have a maroon purple centre. The rest of the piece is made in a deep ecru colour and has long hand knotted fringe at either end. It measures 56” in length exclusive of the 7” fringe at either end, for a total length of 70” including the fringe. It has a width of 18” and is in very good condition with no strains, pronounced wear or tear - clean and ready for use.
This is a gorgeous piece of hand made lace that definitely deserves to be displayed!
