This is a vintage black curly lamb, also known as Persian lamb, fur jacket. The jacket is made in a simple, easy to wear style, with a front zipper closure, small squared collar, padded shoulders, wrist length sleeves and has a shorter body length. There are two exterior side pockets, one pocket built into the edge of the lining and jacket is lined in a plain black fabric (see last photo). This came from the estate of a wealthy woman - I’m unsure, but I have a feeling that this may have been remodelled from an older coat, however, perhaps not.
Label: Alexandor Furs Montreal. Alexandor has a long history dating back to Alexander Jacob Alexandor president and founder of the business started in 1900, and a member of a family with a long history in the fur business, his mother a descendant of Johannes Sebastian Bach, the musician.
Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a medium, maybe large, size - please rely on the following measurements for fit taking the thickness of the fur into account:
Shoulders: 16” across from one shoulder/sleeve seam to the other
Sleeves: 21” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve Inseam: 15”
Bust: 45” around, taken under the arms
Bottom: 42” around
Length: 22”, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition except for a wear spot left front, almost like the curl has gone “fuzzy”(visible in the side photo), very minor and difficult to see under normal circumstances. Otherwise, this jacket appears to be have been well cared for over the years.
