This is a wonderful vintage charcoal grey, almost black, wool coat featuring raised woven white checking with red, green, red and yellow “flecks” or lines. The coat has a small rounded collar, small pads in the shoulders, inset sleeves, four buttons at the upper front and a large patch pocket at either side. The back of the coat is constructed so that it has a “flair”, like a swing coat , more noticeable at the back (note hemline measurement below). It is fully lined in a light grey coloured acetate. The wool is in a lightweight - this is more of a fall coat than a winter coat, unless your climate is moderate. The coat dates to the early 1950s
Label: No maker’s label, but definitely manufactured.
Sizing: The coat has no size label, but should fit a size large, but narrow at the shoulders. Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the coat and the thickness of the fabric into account:
Shoulders: 15 1/2” across, from one shoulder/sleeve seam to the other shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 24” from the shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 19”
Chest: 46” around
Waist: 48” around
Hips: 52” around
Hemline: 76” around
Length: 42”, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no signs of wear, tear, stains or odours - honestly, I’m not sure that this was ever used.
Striking pattern and fun early 50s styling from the I Love Lucy era!
