This is a gorgeous silk kimono, Japanese in form, but possibly made in China. The silk is gauzy, light and very fine and of a type more typically made in China. The fabric is hand embroidered with a raised floral design in two tones of pink and white against the light pink silk colour. The piece is cut in a classic kimono form with wide cut sleeves and is fully lined in a light pink silk It cinches at the waist with a matching embroidered sash belt with fringe. The hemline is padded and covered with white silk. The kimono should fit a medium to large size but please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the garment into consideration (it might be helpful to measure a kimono that you already own):
Top: 53” across, including the top of the sleeves / Shoulders: 31” across from seam to seam / Bust: 42” with a normal closure, but meant to be loose / Waist: 44” but meant to be cinched with the belt / Hips: 48”, meant to fall loosely / Length: 54” at the back, measured flat
Condition: This piece is in very good condition with no pronounced wear or tear, staining or odour. A few stitches along one of the side seams is required, minor repair. This kimono has been very well cared for over the last 90+ years.
