This is a gorgeous dressing gown dating to either the late 1940s or very early 1950s. The robe is made of a patterned rayon in a shiny light ice green colour. It is patterned in diamond shapes, glossy with matte intersecting lines - the lines contain a mix of blue and yellow/green “streaks” (see close-up of label). It has a shawl collar, mid-forearm length dolman sleeves (no shoulder seam), a pocket at either side and is made in an ankle length. The gown is unlined and closes with a matching sash belt.
Label: Designed by Mitzi Diamond Tea Gown (Canada) Ltd. Diamond Tea Gown was founded in 1920 and still exists, under different ownership.
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a medium to large size, please note the following measurements for fit:
Sleeves: 26” long from the neck seam
Bust: 38” around, taken at the underarm opening, depending on overlap
Waist: 28” around, uncinched, depending on overlap
Length: 55”, measured flat
Condition: It is in excellent condition, very surprising for a robe of this age - no holes, wear, tear, staining or odour.
The fabric on this dressing gown has beautiful weight and “fall”, moves gracefully when one walks. Gorgeous robe!
