This is a lovely 1920s era pink silk peignoir featuring white lace inset trim at the collar, opening, sleeves and pocket. The silk that is between the lace insets is embroidered with birds (see close-up photos). The sleeves are actually wide cut openings that have fagoting where they are attached to the body. It is made in a simple, loose fitting form. The piece closes at the left waist with a single snap and with an interior tie that snaps to the left waist opening. The label reads “Charbonneau Blouses-Lingerie Etc Montreal (3 Stores) Verdun”.
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a large size. Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the peignoir, which should fit loosely, into account:
Shoulders: 22” across, from fagoted seam to fagoted seam - 31 1/2” across the top from sleeve cuff to sleeve cuff
Bust: 46” around, taken under the arms, meant to hang loosely
Overall length: 43”, measured flat
Condition: This peignoir is in very good condition with no wear, tear or odour - there is one tiny light mark at the back left shoulder (see close-up photo). I haven’t tried to get it out, but it looks to me like it would come out with a proper cleaning. This piece looks to have seen little, if any, use and was well stored over the years.
This is an easy to wear peignoir, beautiful quality silk, really lovely!
