This is a vintage 1940s era suit jacket featuring a wonderful pink coloured gabardine wool. The jacket has a high set squared collar, padded shoulders, long sleeves and does up the front with four square shaped covered buttons. The collar and pockets are trimmed with black beading that is outlined with metallic gold thread. There is a matching button at the bottom of either pocket opening. It has a longer silhouette than suits of the later 1940s and 50s. There is a diagonal pocket at either side. The jacket is lined in white acetate. There is no label.
Color: Light pink
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium size. Please note the following measurements, taking the style of the suit into account:
Shoulders: 17” across seam-to-seam, but shoulder cap should fit into top of sleeve
Sleeves: 22” from shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 15 1/2” long
Bust: 40 1/2” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 34” around
Overall length: 27”
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odors. There are two small pinhead sized marks, one under the left lapel and the other to the left of the lapel - I’ve shown both in the last close-up photo. I haven’t tried to remove these, but you don’t see one of them as it is under the lapel and the other is quite minor.
This is a great period suit jacket - difficult to find colours, especially pink, from the war era!
