This is a vintage 60s Mad Men era cocktail dress featuring a fabulous black chiffon poet sleeve! The sleeve is made of pleated chiffon, cut in a wide puffed shape that cinches at the narrow black satin cuff. The dress has a squared open neckline and empire waist. The bodice is covered in pleated chiffon similar to the sleeves. The empire waistline is accented with a black ribbon with a bow form at the centre. The skirt is made of rayon crepe and the dress is lined in black acetate. It does up with a nylon zipper at the back.
Label: Elinor Gay ® Original. Elinor Gay was a New York based manufacturer, founded in 1940 by Harry H. Greenberg. They produced very stylish, good quality dresses.
Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a small size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the dress into account:
Bust: 33” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 29” around
Hips: 33”-34” around
Overall length: 36"
Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear or tear, stains, odors - I have noticed slight “shininess” to the rayon skirt, probably caused by heat pressing, fairly minor though. Otherwise, this dress has been well cared for over the years.
This is a fabulous cocktail dress - that sleeve is sure to get you noticed!
