This is a wonderful quality dress made of bronze coloured Shantung silk in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong. The dress is made in an above the knee length high waisted style. It is ornately adorned with topaz and clear rhinestones, gold toned metal pieces and faceted crystal glass beads around the neckline and at the cuffs of the sleeves. The neckline is made with a narrow V cut at the front. The skirt of the dress flares in a somewhat A line style. The dress does up the back with a metal zipper. There is a vertical pocket built into either side. It is fully lined in a rayon fabric.

Due to trade embargoes placed on the People’s Republic of China by the international community, Hong Kong began to develop its garment trade during the 1950s, and due to limitations placed on export to the UK in 1959, export markets were established in North America. This is why many excellent quality garments dating to the early 60s are found locally.

Waist: 30” around
Hips: 36” around
Hemline: 46” around
Overall length: 37", measured flat

Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, holes. There is some underarm staining on the lining only. This dress has been well cared for and stored over the years.

This is a striking dress - the rhinestone and gold metallic embellishment at the bodice and cuffs is really glittery and of exceptional quality.....sure to be noticed!
