This is an unused silk dress sold at the Hanae Mori Boutique during the 1980s. The dress still has its hang tag affixed to the label with spare buttons - the label was cut, perhaps due to the dress being liquidated out of season. It is in a lovely red colour with tiny white stars throughout - they almost look like polka dots until one has a closer look. The dress is open at the front, but closes with buttons from the top to bottom. It has a plain high set rounded neckline and long sleeves that are gathered at the top seam. It has a two part plastic buckle on the matching fabric sash belt - I’ve posed it one way, but perhaps there are other ways to wear the belt. The dress is lined in red acetate fabric.
Label: Hanae Mori Boutique. Hanae Mori started designing her own line in 1965 and opened her Paris atelier in 1977. She was highly regarded in Japan and used techniques garnered from both Asian and Western fashion design. Her clothes were worn by Princess Grace of Monaco, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Reagan.
