This is a vintage 1980s orange linen dress made in Canada by Irving Samuel. Irving Samuel was a good quality manufacturer and had the license to produce Christian Dior in North America. This dress has padded shoulders and cap sleeves. The neckline is a high set V. The dress is constructed with an angular flap across the bodice and with faux pockets with angular flaps, very much in keeping with the geometric aesthetic of the late 70s and early 80s. The dress has an orange acetate lining and does up the back with a nylon zipper. The four orange buttons on the flap are decorative and not functional.
Sizing: The content and size label is faded, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit (please take the style of the dress into consideration):
Shoulders: 16” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Bust: 37” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 32” around
Hips: 36” around
Overall length: 38 1/2", measured flat
It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, holes, stains or odors - it looks to have seen very little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a nice quality dress featuring a wonderful 80s geometric design in a striking color.
