This is a wonderful vintage late 50s era LBD (little black dress) made by Adele Simpson. The dress is made in a simple, yet sophisticated, style, suitable for a cocktail party. It has a high draped neckline and a defined waistline that is cinched with a matching fabric belt and decorative bow at the front. It is sleeveless and cut in a below the knee length. It has a black silk slip lining that does up with a metal zipper - the dress does up along the upper left side with a hook and snaps and at the shoulder with snaps, hooks and eyes. The skirt of the dress does up with a metal zipper at the upper left side.
Label: Adele Simpson. This version of her label is known to have been used during the late 50s and early 60s.
Adele Simpson was a child vaudeville performer who danced in productions with Milton Berle and other vaudevillians. She pursued a career in fashion design, graduating from the Pratt Institute in 1924 and then becoming the head designer at Ben Gershel, a New York based manufacturer. Later, she worked for Mary Lee, another New York based manufacturer, and in 1949, she bought the company, changing the name to Adele Simpson. She specialized in taking couture designs from France and adapting them as American ready-to-wear models. She was also the recipient of the Coty Award in 1947. Later in her life, she designed for Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon and Barbara Bush.

Condition: It's in very good condition with no other wear, tear, marks, stains or odors - this dress looks to have seen very little use and was well cared for over the years.
