From the early 1990s here is a very nice quality belt made by the Parisian fashion house of Jacques Fath. The belt is made of black leather with a black and white striped grosgrain fabric surface on the exterior, centrally applied on black patent leather. A JF gold toned metal logo appears to the right of the buckle while the belt is being worn. The interior of the belt has an embossed grain finish.
Maker's Imprint: Jacques Fath Paris Cuir Veritable Doublure Cuir Made in France
The Jacques Fath fashion house, after being closed in 1957, re-emerged in 1992. I believe that this belt dates to the newly opened maison.
Sizing: Size 42 is indicated, which I assume is a French size - the belt measures 35" in length including its buckle. The length from the furthest hole to the tongue of the buckle is 30 1/4" and from the closest hole is 29 1/2". The belt has a width of 2".
It is in very good condition with some small issues. The grosgrain fabric has some striated separations, primarily at the end of the belt opposite from the buckle (see photos). In addition, there is a bit of wear to the top edge of the patent leather about 3" from the buckle (see photo). Otherwise, this belt looks great and will certainly be noticed.
This is a very nice quality belt by a Parisian fashion house......striking pattern and form.
