Age: 1940s / early 50s
Label: No label
Description: This is a gorgeous black pleated skirt dating to the 1940s or maybe early 50s. The skirt is made of finely pleated black taffeta with three horizontal black velvet bands and three rows of black tinsel that I think may be raffia, appearing twice, between the velvet bands. The skirt is unlined and does up the back with a metal zipper. Please note that the sunlight caused some highlights in the fabric, but the skirt doesn't normally look like that. The skirt was posed with a crinoline underneath it - not necessary, but to achieve a fuller look, a crinoline would be helpful.
Material: Rayon taffeta
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a smaller size - please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Waist: 26" around
Hips: Full - 40" around, but meant to fall loosely
Hemline: 120" around
Overall length: 28" long, measured flat
It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors. This skirt looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a very attractive skirt - beautiful detail, quite gorgeous....
