For your consideration - an elegant lidded vessel with grapevine motif finial and German Sarreguemines stoneware insert.
Produced circa 1900 by The Meriden Silverplate Company, the diminutive oval cradle with lid features elegant diamond-and-cross openwork, sweeping curved, double-prong handles and stunning grapevine motif feet and finial. It has been paired with a German Sarreguemines brown stoneware insert, and is appropriately sized for butter or condiments, or save it for yourself alone as a dresser or vanity dish.
Condition is very good, with age-appropriate wear to the plated finish, and very minor dings to the lid. The stoneware is free from chipping, cracking or crazing, with very minor discoloration to the interior.
Cradle marked "MERIDEN SILVER PLATE CO", 5028 U.S.A. Stoneware marked with impressed "SARREGUIMINES" and "N", and crown & shield backstamp "MADE IN GERMANY".
