This amazing Georgian mourning pendant has two scenes - one on each side - under glass. One side has a grave made of seed pearls and mother of pearl with gold threads. On the tombstone it says: NOT LOST BUT GONE BEFORE. There is a weeping willow tree made entirely of human hair. The "grassy" floor is probably made of hair as well. Tiny little clumps have separated and float around inside the scene. Also, tiny little white beads have separated from the grave and float around. The opaline glass behind the scene is cracked, but not separated, and the foil backing is visible. The other side is stunning as well ... Prince of Wales "feathers" made of gorgeous blonde hair, "tied" together with a seed pearl "clasp", and a guilloche enamel with tiny seed pearl frame medallion hanging from one of the gold threads, with the initials SLR? written in little white beads. The opaline glass back on this is intact. The frame is beautiful. There are scuffs and scratches on the side rim of the frame. This is a fairly large size pendant, measuring 3" X 2 1/2" (not including the bale on top).
