This is such a cool piece. Dated 1908 (on the inscription), and carrying a German hallmark - moon and part of a crown, and the 800 stamp (Continental silver) on the mirror handle - this chatelaine all the art nouveau elements of the time - flowing floral motifs, enameled clover, etc. Attached to a spring lock ring, there's a pencil in its holder, a "mirror" - which either held a mirror at one time, but the glass is very hazy now, so it may even have been a frame for a miniature (the insert comes out, so you can put whatever you want there), and an adorable hinged aide memoire - with words "Chers Souvenirs," embossed, with enameled clover. There's also a the monogrammed charm of the owner with inscription and date (1908) on the back. It doesn't get any better than this. The workmanship is amazing. The piece is in great, used, antique condition. The mirror handle has some dents, but no real damage. The pencil (although worn down quite a bit) still writes. The weight of the chatelaine is 15.5 grams. The longest piece is the mirror, which is 5 cm. long.
