This 16” tall doll is an extremely rare and beautiful Emile Jumeau Bebe on a wooden body. She is an early (1880) EJ model marked "6" over EJ. The head is made of pressed pale bisque with applied pierced ears. She has beautiful blue enamel glass eyes, mauve eye shadow, a closed mouth, an antique blond mohair wig, original cork pate and original wooden button attachment to the body. This early pale bisque head is in perfect shape. It does have a light spot on her right chin and few of those spots on the top of her forehead. It is not damage but slight discoloration that accrued during the firing process. The doll’s fully articulated body (except wrist and ankles) made of wood and marked on the back “Jumeau Medaille Paris”. Some doll experts think that the Jumeau Firm tried to compete with a Bebe Model of a Bru Firm that was on the market during this time period. Bebe Model has a fully articulated wooden body.
Mlle Snowflake wears antique (I think its original to her) matching underwear, beige knitted socks and marked “EJ” shoes. Her antique all matching set made of wool; it contains a beige knitted skirt, a jacket, a collar that goes over it and a muff. It does have few holes here and there but it is in a good shape all over.
She is a gorgeous doll that is very hard to find.
