This 6.75” tall (she is pretty big for a mignonette doll) beauty survived from the last quarter of 19th century to our days in her original condition including the box and some of the original outfits.
The doll is a French All-Bisque Mignonette with Bare Feet, most likely, made by Francois Gaultier around 1878 or possibly even earlier. Her head and body are in perfect shape; hands and feet are very detailed, you can even see her long fingers with nails and toenails. She has two-toned early big glass eyes (blue/gray), multi stroke painted eyebrows, original cork pate and a mohair wig. The doll’s underwear made of organza; her original sea foam dress is silk trimmed with a bit of tiny lace. In her box she has two antique dresses made of silk and lace, one knitted vintage and more recent one made of gray silk trimmed with an antique lace as well. The doll also has a nice hat that can be wear with any of the outfits she has in her wardrobe. The doll’s body and the back of the head is marked with Cross (please see my pictures). Once again, there is damage or repair or eye chip on this beauty. You can see the mold flow on one of her hips on the picture of her body.
Her original paper carton box has a label of the famous French Department Store and trimmed inside with a paper to make a nice border inside the box. I am not sure if this paper was there when the doll was sold but it is very cute! The condition of the box you can see from my photos. It has some repairs but it is totally useful for display the doll and her dresses in it. The dogs are not for sale. I used these two cute terriers to display with mignonettes.
She is one of the best French Mignonette Doll faces with a huge eyes and lovely painting! Real treasure.
