This 9” tall doll was made by Simon & Halbig Company of Germany for the French Market. The doll was sold by the store in Lyon, France specializing in selling dolls. The box this doll came in made of green cardboard (size) with the attached store label inside. The doll has few pieces of white underwear, white pique collar, two white batiste dresses, one ocean green dress made of wool and trimmed with feather stitches, one silk satin royal blue dress/coat and two piece dress and jacket made of striped pink and white cotton with some kind of white clouds inside. It is all very cute, antique and belongs to this big girl. She also had an antique dinner set in her box that painted with poppies and cornflowers. The outfit she wears contains checkered red, black and white wool dress and laced bonnet with a silk bow on the top. She is a very adorable girl. The doll is all bisque with hazelnut stationary eyes, open mouth with teeth, marked head (886; S.6 H.), original cardboard pate and blond mohair wig. Her head is free of any damage or hairlines. She wears painted long black stockings and molded brown shoes with two stripes. The body is in good shape except one broken thumb on the right hand.
Her 5” little sister keeps her entertained, she is her little companion. The tiny doll is the same mold number with sleeping brown eyes in all original condition including few layers of petticoats and her grey wool dress trimmed with feather stitches. The smaller girl has a hairline coming from the top of the head through her face. It is hard to find and see but it's there.
This set is very unique and so hard to find with all those outfits, two original dolls and the box of the store where she was originally sold. She was probably stored away for many many years. It is a real treasure for any antique doll collector!
