This is a lovely hand painted oil which presents a handsome mousquetaire wooing a lovely mademoiselle. The painting originates from Paris, France and dates circa 1900. We feature another example in a separate listing.
The canvas has been placed on a wooden structure. The medium is oil and the size is 16" x 10 1/2". The artist (Fl Rossy) has signed the painting at the right hand corner.
The handsome couple are on a leisurely stroll. The lady wears a pretty creme gown with a pink overcoat. She has a wide lace collar and "mousquetaire" lace sleeves. Her regard is to the man, her arm intertwined with his. The gentleman has a fine bejeweled chapeau with a white and blue ostrich feather at the top. His sword is at his left side; he wears striking long thigh boots. He has thick black wavy locks and a fancy upturned moustache.
It is in good antique condition: There horizontal wear along the front canvas bottom (where it folds over the structure): (you can see the canvas). There is darkening to the varnish but the original hues of the figures remain bright. The structure is sound with no breaks and it has the original metal tacks.
It is the perfect size and genre creating a vignette with other beautiful antiques. It is a charming signed work.
