This early 1850's swivel head china was made by the German firm A.W. Kister. The head and shoulder plate are pink tinted and thick paste. The head is totally bald except for the hair wisps above his ears. There are in-the-making firing lines below both ears and are not distracting. The arms have spoon hands with detailed palms. The boots are slightly heeled as are his grand daughter's, Alice. The legs were slip covered and look as though they were recovered again and taped? It feels like the top of his left leg is missing the band piece that is used for typical attaching.
His black wool jacket is expertly hand stitched and is exceptional. I will send along the newer but acceptable gray wool pants. The pants have holes which could be mended.
Obviously, the body flaws would be totally covered with clothing. It would be lovely if Alice and Grandfather could stay together!
