This delightful lady pin is made of 18 carat gold filled metal. It is signed ‘CM’ for Charles Murat established in Paris in 1847 and still going strong today. This piece dates to the Art Nouveau period circa 1900.
The pin measures 1 and 1/8” (3cms) across by 1” (2.5cms). It weighs 3.6 grams.
Within a typically irregular frame is a most ravishing image of a lady in profile. She has a most beautiful neck and shoulder. Her features are well defined Around the edge are pretty flowers. At lower right is the signature of the artist which is hard to make out but looks like ‘Van den Straeten’. This is for Georges van der Straeten (1856-1941).
On the reverse is an old style c clip. The back is plain but there is a scratch were someone has tried to excavate the depth of the gold.
In the centre is a raised plaque. This is marked ‘P’er Titre C M Soudé Or’ (soldered with gold).
In fine antique condition , this beautiful and very rare pin will arrive in a gift box.
