This delightful vesta or match safe case dates to circa 1900- 1910. It is silver plated with a rose gold overlaid plaque. It came from a French source but bears no marks so I will consider it European from France or Germany.
The vesta measures 1 and 13/16” (4.5cms) by 1 and 5/8” (3.2cms). It weighs 16.8 grams.
The vesta has raised lines, creating a striped effect on the front and back. On the front is the rose gold plaque with curves reminiscent of the Art Nouveau movement. It bears a monogram so clearly it was a gift for a special person.
The vesta opens easily and closes firmly.
At the base is a striking plate for matches.
This truly charming piece is in excellent antique condition. It will arrive in a gift box.
