This beautiful, sterling silver enamel Arts & Crafts pendant is English and is fully hallmarked for 1909. It was made by James Fenton, a maker whose high quality work is now avidly collected.
The pendant is accompanied by a silver chain 17” (42cms) long which closes with a ring clasp.
The pendant measures ¾” ( 2cms) each way. Together with the chain it weighs 4 grams.
On a silver base are three pretty heart shapes. They are enamelled in brilliant, mottled turquoise blue with fine, bubble like texture beneath the enamel. There is a sweet, dark blue enamel drop, This style is very reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts ‘Liberty’ style.
There is a tiny ring at the top and through this a larger bail to hold the chain.
On the back are full English hallmarks. These are: the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, the lion passant for sterling silver and the year mark ‘k’ for 1909. Beneath this is the maker’s mark ‘J.F.’
This truly stunning, Edwardian Arts and Crafts pendant is in fine condition. All the enamel is intact. It comes to you carefully presented in a gift box.
