This wonderful late Victorian double frame bears full English Chester hallmarks for the year 1900. It was made by James Deakin & Son.

Mounted on wood, it measures 3 and 11/16” (9.3 grams) by 2” (5.2cms).

Here are two intertwined frames with a decorative surround. They are deeply incised with pretty curlicues. The inside edge is plain silver.

On one side is the maker’s mark ‘J D W D’. Thee follow the English hallmarks – the lion passant for sterling silver, the three sheaves of wheat for the Chester assay office and the date letter ‘R’ for the year 1900. On the other side is the serial number.

Within the frames are two sepia photographs of ladies. The one on left looks like a bride.

On the back of the wooden frame is a stand and tabs to open the backs and remove the photos to replace them with your own if wanted.

In fine antique condition with only a very tiny ding on one frame, this charming piece will arrive in a gift box.
