This delightful, Scottish, Victorian pin was probably intended to hold a plaid or kilt. The silver is unmarked as were many items of this period but tests as sterling. It is inlaid with moss agate from the highlands.
It measures 2 and 5/8” (6.5cms) by 11/16” (1.7cms). It weighs a substantial 11.8 grams.
The edge is decorated with curlicues, mounted on a silver band. The agate inlay is a rich brown and a close examination reveals the mossy fronds within the agate. It contrasts beautifully with the silver.
The pin is open backed and there is a solid old style clip and pin.
This very fine pin is in fine antique condition. It will arrive in a gift box.
