This charming stick pin is French from the Georgian period. The top has a ceramic plaque set in silver plated metal.
It is 2 and ¾” (7cms) long and the plaque measures 20mms by 12mms.
The rectangular plaque is typical of French, ‘grisaille’ jewellery of the period. Often these were classical images . This one has what looks like a cherub with a bird attached with a length of cord. The black background accents the figure. In is set in a silver plated surround finished with fine cording.
Attached to the back is a steel pin and a ring to secure the pin to fabric.
It is not surprising that this fascinating and exquisite piece shows some signs of age. It will arrive in a gift box,
